Formula 1 driver Liam Lawson disclosed he barely escaped a potentially fatal collision during Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix when two marshals crossed the track right in his path

The alarming incident occurred on the third circuit when track officials were spotted on the racing surface as Lawson was returning to the race following an quick visit to the pits to swap his broken nose section

Driver's Immediate Reaction

Shortly afterward, the team's competitor Lawson spoke to his race engineer saying: "You've got to be joking? Did you just see that? I could have... killed them"

"I truly couldn't comprehend what I was observing"

"I came out on a brand new hard tyres, and then I arrived at Turn One and suddenly there were two dudes dashing across the track"

"I nearly hit one of them, truthfully, it was incredibly risky"

"On lap three, marshals were informed and put on alert to enter the track and remove the wreckage once the entire field had cleared the area"

"The moment it was realized that Lawson had pitted, the instructions to dispatch officials were rescinded and a safety warning flag was displayed in that section"
